An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Livestock Manager to join our team here at Chandler and Dunn in the South East of England. This position will suit an experienced Stockman/Livestock Manager with a focus on our pedigree beef growing enterprise. A positive can-do attitude is essential along with the ability to work to a high standard without supervision. You will work closely with our arable enterprise and will have support from a livestock assistant. Subsidized accommodation available.

Main Duties

  • Managing and coordinating the daily operations of the livestock of the farm including the care and maintenance of stock, equipment, facilities, housing and fencing
  • Implementing animal health and safety protocols.
  • Conducting examinations and administering vaccinations.
  • Supporting with cattle breeding and care
  • Monitoring and evaluating animal health and wellbeing of cattle and sheep seeking veterinary help when necessary
  • Maintaining accurate records of appropriate information, including breeding records, movements, veterinary treatment records, and regulatory paperwork.
  • Complying with all relevant animal welfare and environmental regulations
  • Undertaking routine maintenance and repair work on the farm
  • General farm work

Requirements

  • Proven experience with livestock – cattle and sheep management or similar role
  • Full clean driving licence essential
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends
  • Lambing experience
  • Knowledge of AI
  • Self-motivated and capable of using own initiative with a high standard of welfare.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with senior management, other staff, external clients and members of the public
  • Understanding of safety regulations in farming.
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy loads.
  • Familiarity with modern farming techniques and equipment.
  • Computer and smartphone literate
